James Baldwin Would Be Embarrassed
Teacher in hot water for using epithet in class about epithets.
As if things couldn’t get any dumber.
A teacher in New Haven used the term “negro” in reference to a documentary about James Baldwin, called, “I Am Not Your Negro.”
That was all it took.
A student took umbrage at the use of the word and baited the teacher into using another, similar word. Then, practically the entire student body stormed out of class and raised all sorts of hell.
The teacher was placed on leave. You read that right. She has been plucked out of her class.
"A student asked the teacher whether it was appropriate that she, as a white woman, pronounce the full title. The teacher responded that she thought it was necessary to use the word in the context of the title since the movie is in part intended to create awareness about the word and its evolution. The student then asked whether the teacher would use a specific racial epithet if it was in the title of a song. The teacher replied no but repeated the student's epithet," Coop Assistant Principal John Nguyen subsequently wrote in a message to the school community.
This is obviously insane.
These kids are spoiled brats who have so few actual troubles in their lives that they are making them up.
They are role-playing as victims/activists.
Maybe we should think about stopping this theatrical tripe before we destroy yet another generation.
Words don’t hurt. That is a fact.
Suck it up.
Love,
Tom
Another great point Tom. I haven't read your substack in a while. But it's right on as expected.
